MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

  • Student Information
    Student membership is open to any undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at an institution of higher education who supports the purposes of the Academy, whose enrollment is certified by a regular faculty or administrative official of the institution. Dues: $60 per year
  • Special Offer for Graduate
    Student Graduate students in the field of criminal justice can take advantage of a one-year, free membership in ACJS. This opportunity includes the subscriptions and newsletters described below, and can be used at any point during a doctoral program. If you wish to take advantage of this offer, please email your proof of Ph.D. status to info@acjs.org. Proof can be a transcript, letter from your institution, etc. Once your status is verified, you will be emailed a promotional code to use on the payment page for membership dues which will credit the $60 fee. You can only take advantage of this offer once during your time as a graduate student.

CONFERENCE AND MEETINGS

  • Students are invited to submit abstracts for the 2025 annual conference. Visit 2025 Call for Presentations.
  • Student-Authored Paper Panels
    Undergraduate and graduate student authors may submit their papers to a regular topical area of their choice where they will present with other faculty and practitioners. However, students also have the option to submit their papers for presentation on an all-student panel. These panels are on a variety of topical areas and are designed to facilitate initial presentations in a supportive and welcoming environment. Students who select this option should select “student panel” as their topic area.   (2025 Student Panels chair: Chunghyeon Seo, University of Central Oklahoma)
  • Doctoral Summit
    The Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences would like to invite 40 advanced doctoral students from accredited Ph.D. programs to participate in the ACJS Doctoral Summit during the annual meeting. Students selected to participate in the Summit will be awarded a scholarship that includes the conference registration fee, a printed research poster, one meal, and hotel.  Students who successfully complete all of the requirements will receive a certificate of completion and official recognition as a Doctoral Fellow of ACJS by the Academy. ACADEMY AWARDS

  • Student Scholarship Mini-Grant Travel Awards for People of Color and Women
    The Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences' Affirmative Action Committee offers two mini-grants targeted to racial/ethnic minority and women students for the purpose of promoting the involvement of all minority groups in the Academy. These grants will permit students to attend and present a research paper at the ACJS Annual Meeting.
  • ACJS Student Scholarship Awards
    The Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences’ Student Affairs Committee awards two students (one at the Masters level and another at the Ph.D. level) funding in the amount of $600 each to apply towards travel to the annual ACJS conference.
  • ACJS Student Panel Presentation Awards
    This prestigious award from the ACJS Student Panel Committee recognizes students' outstanding research and encourages active participation in the ACJS Annual Meeting.
  • ACJS Student Poster Presentation Awards
    This contest showcases students’ outstanding scholarly and creative projects in the form of research posters. This prestigious award recognizes exceptional student research and encourages active participation in the ACJS Annual Meeting.
