Resources for Programs
All academic programs are required to engage in periodic program reviews, often with the help of an external reviewer. The external reviewer can serve as a valuable advocate for your program and help communicate the need for resources and support to your administration. ACJS is the only organization in the nation that trains criminal justice faculty to become program reviewers, so if you need to bring in a consultant to help with your review, why not get someone who is already trained for the task at no additional cost?
ACJS is also the only academic body in the nation that offers quality standards for AA/AS, BA/BS, and MA/MS programs. Programs that can demonstrate through their program review that they meet at least 85% of these standards (including mandatory Standard C.4) when an ACJS reviewer visits their program will qualify for the ACJS Endorsement designation. Programs can market that they are ACJS Endorsed for the following 7 years with the ACJS Endorsed silver seal. Programs that do exceptionally well with their reviews and meet 95% of the standards (including mandatory C.4) will be recognized as having exceeded ACJS Endorsement standards and will be given the ACJS Endorsed gold seal for their websites and publications.” All ACJS Endorsed programs will be advertised on the ACJS Program Website. If you must do program review, consider making the most of it and seeking endorsement.
